Sonia Sotomayor Likely Choice For Supreme Court

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

Given the propensity of this administration to follow in the footsteps of the previous Bush and Clinton administrations, Sonia Sotomayor is the most likely choice for the Supreme Court. She will also likely be easily confirmed.

The fact the she is a Yale graduate, appointed as a federal judge by George H. W. Bush is by itself enough to make one stop and think. Perhaps she was a Skull?  They do accept females now, don’t they? I guess we’ll probably never know since they no longer publish there member list.

There isn’t a lot of information out there yet about her yet, maybe more will come with time. There is some information by some who are questioning here previous rulings.  One for example on free speech involved a student criticism of their school.  More details on this decision can be found here.  There has also been some turmoil created by an affirmative action ruling.  More information about this can be found here.  A semi-complete list of ruling by a biased site can be found here.

One of the others floated as a possible appointee was Janet Napolitano. There is no way on earth she could be confirmed. Then again, could she. Stranger things have happened. Actually very strange things seem to be happening every day.

Like Obama, Sotomayor seems to come from nowhere.  She comes from a very poor family and then graduates from Harvard.  Unlike Obama, Sotomayor’s father was not a Harvard graduate.
